info
Michigan has transitioned from the issuance of paper GED® test scores, transcripts, and certificates (your credentials) to a paperless, web-based credentialing system. As with any new process, there will be changes and questions.
What is the cost for GED® credentials?
You will receive your first transcript and certificate for FREE after passing the GED® exam. For each additional request for a transcript or certificate, the one making the request (the student, school, employer, employment verification firm, etc.) may be required to pay $15 per document.
How do I order/request my GED® credentials?
All requests for GED® transcripts and certificates are now handled through GED CredentialingTM. You can request your transcripts and/or certificate either online at http://www.gedtestingservice.com or by phone at 888-906-4031.
How soon will I receive my GED® transcript and certificate?
As soon as you pass the GED® exam, typically, within hours of completing the final test, you will receive a secure, electronic PDF document delivered to your email that contains your transcript and certificate. Electronic versions of the certificate include a link to order a professionally printed Michigan GED® certificate FREE of charge for the first request.
With a few exceptions, GED CredentialingTM has Michigan test takers' electronic data dating back to 1979. Records from 1969 to 1979 are available but require a manual search and it may take a few days to fulfill requests (records prior to 1969 might be available through the testing center where the student took their test but, not necessarily).
What security system is used to protect the integrety of my transcripts and certificate?
GED CredentialingTM uses Blue Ribbon SecurityTM system. Blue Ribbon SecurityTM guarantees that the transcripts and certificates you send out have not been altered. GED CredentialingTM works with over 4,000 different colleges; and, over a third of all high school certificates are delivered using this security process. The request recipient can easily assess the integrity of a transcript or certificate by noting a blue ribbon indicating that the document is authentic or a red X indicating the document has been altered.
